Hey! Yet another post about Louisville, but this is our final one of the year. We spent quite a lot of time there hanging out, hence all the posts.
We had plenty of good times, as always, and here’s a rundown of what we did (or, ate and drank).
Our buddies, Joel and Julie, stopped by for a day with their family, on their way back from vacation in Florida. It’s always great to see these folks and we always have a booty-shaking time. We all went out for drinks and eats at Against the Grain…nom nom nom.
Cheers to Tate!
It started pouring insanely hard when we were there, so we had to duck the rain and act like weirdos while we waited for our Uber to arrive.
It was coming down so hard that we got completely drenched going from the door to the car. Fortunately, Julie and the kids got busy helping me dry off when we got back to their hotel. Hahaha!
Joel just played with beers, though.
Lovely times with loving folks. Thanks for stopping through!
We saw this serve-yourself local honey setup at Fresh Thyme grocery store, which really impressed me. Eat local honey!
Swung through 3rd Turn Brewing Co. in the Jeffersonville neighborhood for the first time ever. These guys are doing great things, and they have an awesome space inside an old church. Big thanks to Stephen, Dale, Jason, Sarah, and Kyle for the hospitality!
Also drooly was the presence of Germany’s #1 Food Truck. Give me all your döner kebab! So, so good.
Doggie break!
While in Louisville, we also had to check out Frankfort Avenue Beer Depot for some food and brews. The grub was crazy on-point and they have an amazing patio, but the beer selection was seriously lacking for somewhere with that name. Ah well!
As we always try to do when we’re in town, we went out to hang with my godfather, Robb (on the right), and his husband, Paul. They’re super-fun folks.
Naturally, we had to head back over to Mile Wide Beer Co. as well (again) to imbibe and say hi (again) to some of our favorite people in Louisville.
All Thai’d Up food truck was there, so you know we had to get down with some Thai food goodness.
Say hey to Casey!
Doggie break!
We met up with Robb and Paul again, this time for brunch at The Café, a Louisville institution.
After brunch, Ang and I popped into Stoneware & Co. to check out their offerings. This place dates back to 1815, and they make all sorts of interesting, useful, and non-useful stone products. It’s definitely a great spot to shop for home goods or gifts when you’re in town.
Well, here’s a truck.
Went back over to Derby City Chop Shop to get my hair chippity-chopped again, and my barber, Evan, was rocking one of our Hopsmash stickers on his clippers. Before he even knew it was ours! Super-cool taste (ha!) from a super-cool guy. Thanks and cheers to you!
Ang and I headed over to Crescent Hill Craft House on Frankfort Ave. to have some food, much of which is made with locally-sourced ingredients. They also only serve local beer, so you know we had to get our food and drink swerve on. While it was great, I could have gone for a bit more on the beer choice end of things.
And, that’s a wrap! Time for a nap!
Check out more of our Louisville posts right here. Also, be sure to check out our Hopsmash project on Instagram and Facebook.
A very special thanks to everyone at all of these establishments for their delicious concoctions and hospitality, and to Robb and Paul for hanging out. Louisville is always a great time!

It’s a wonder you guys don’t weigh 400 lbs what with all that eating and drinking!! Yikes! It all looks soooo good!
Haha well this was over 2 months. So, not too bad…that doesn’t mean I didn’t gain weight though! :(
