As you may know by now, we go to Michigan quite a lot when we’re in the U.S. We have friends there, but we also love to hang out in the state. It’s beautiful, it’s got nice people, it’s got lots of water, and it’s got great food and drink.
One of the many areas we like to hang out in is around the town of St. Joseph, on the Lake Michigan side of the state. While that’s the main town, more or less, we actually spent time there this go around, as well as Stevensville and Bridgman. So. Much. Delicious. Beer.
And so, here we go!
Our first stop was to eat and drink at Silver Harbor Brewing Co. in downtown St. Joe. They have a tasty menu and brews, and it’s usually our stop before or after we walk around and enjoy the beauty of this lakeside town. Thanks to Erika and Kristen for the hospitality!
After filling up at Silver Harbor, we took that stroll in a town we always highly recommend for a summertime stop. (Winter, hard pass!)
One of our all-time favorite breweries and spaces to hang in general is Watermark Brewing Co. in nearby Stevensville. We actually hit this place up two times during our short stay, because…well…that’s just how much we like it! Big hugs and thanks to Chris, the Justins, Dave, Joe, and Chicago Jimmy!
They also have a crazy vending machine so you can grab snacks, surprise bags of goodies, and more randomness.
Those two lovely ladies you see there are Stephanie and Wendy, who we actually met on our second visit to Transient Artisan Ales in Bridgman. We forced them to go back to Watermark with us, which is where that shot is from. But, let’s rewind a few hours to our time at Transient.
They have a dog named Penny, which is why we started harassing them. Ha. They’re really cool gals and we’re glad they let us in! Also, Transient makes some insanely tasty beers.
As Michigan is so, so full of great breweries, all we had to do was walk across the street to get some delicious yummers at Tapistry Brewing Co.
Random, but we walked by this very cool Cubs bar on our way walking between two breweries.
Fly the W!
So yeah, yet another (!!!) brewery we went to is Haymarket Brewery, which has a location in Bridgman, but also one in Chicago. The Bridgman location has food and their own beer, as well as a great patio/garden area for great summer hangs. Major thanks to Tessa and Zach for the good times!
And, there you have it! Yes, I know it’s mostly beer and food. But hey, that’s what we do when we’re hanging out…not to mention our Hopsmash thing we’ve got going on, which “requires” (haha) us to visit all of these places. :) be sure to check out that out on Instagram and Facebook.
Naturally, check out more of our Michigan posts right here.
A very special thanks to everyone at all of these local businesses for their amazing hospitality and delicious treats, and to our new friends, Stephanie and Wendy!

WE LOVED our visit to St Jo’s, even though it was very short. A Cub’s place in WI!!! Who knew?
Western Michigan has lots of Cubs fans since it’s so close to Chicago. Go Cubs!
