Happy New Year! I know it’s already February, but I can’t really write a round-up of our January before the end of the month, now, can I? =P As noted in my Seville December post, I’ve decided that it’s a good idea to write about our more “mundane” lives as well. The lives we live when we’re not traveling, what we do when we’re “home,” etc.
Some months are more busy and exciting than others, and January was much more chill than December. We spent the beginning of the month in Portugal with my sister and brother-in-law, and you’ll see some of those posts later.
After that, we really did a lot of hanging out, relaxing, and getting various personal things done. So, there’s not a whole lot to share from January. Alas, we did do things here and there, and have photos for you!
We started out the year with the aforementioned family, as well as our friends, Kim and Jerry, in town visiting. We spent New Year’s Day at the trendy Sojo bar with all of them, and it’s always a nice time hanging with these endlessly-fun folks.
Cheers to 2018!
No, that’s not random crap on my forehead. Thanks, lighting and shadows!
After sipping drinks and having good times at Sojo, we headed to Asador Salas for a nice dinner with family and friends.
Lots of meat and treats, and some really good seafood rice.
And after-dinner shots, naturally. :)
After that, Kim and Jerry unfortunately had to go back to the States. Something about home and children and yada yada yada. Ha.
We went to Portugal after, and came back a few days later with some craft beer treats. Here are a few of them for ya.
We also went to Nazca again with Heidi and Ben before they flew back to the U.S. It seems to be our tradition before they leave, and it’s always yummy.
How about some dry ice with your ceviche?
And mochi for dessert. Nom nom nom…
Bye, guys! It’s always a blast having you here.
Ang made some insane peanut butter and chocolate bars for our informal Friday Night Social Club at Bier Kraft.
And took a macro shot of the finger she cut sacrificing herself for the pleasure of those around her.
Crazy seeing it that up-close.
Also, there was a good puppy.
And Louis, being lazy as usual.
Lastly for the month are a few of my favorite beers we drank. I got both of these from BrewDog in Scotland, and you can order online if you’re in the EU.
BrewDog Abstrakt AB:22 from their experimental series. A suuuuuuper-good imperial stout brewed with cacao and coffee, and aged in Speyside whiskey casks for over 2 years. 12.5% ABV of gloriousness.
Aaaand! BrewDog Hop Shot Quadruple IPA. This bottle is only 110 cl (less than 4 oz.), but packs over 20% ABV due to ice distillation. It basically tastes like a really beery whiskey.
I recommend both!
And there it is, our January in Seville. Or, the part of it we photographed, anyway! Thanks so much as well to Heidi, Ben, Kim, and Jerry for coming to visit.
